After our flying visit to New York, we caught our flight to Cancun for a few days of lazing by the beach at Playa Del Carmen. The ocean there was incredible, even though it was overcast, it was still so pretty. We took a snorkeling tour in the Carribean, but basically chilled out. We needed it to get over New York!
From Playa Del Carmen, we visited friends in Progreso in the Yucatan and spent some time helping out in the field to find Foreigners living in Mexico. We also got to do some Cruise Ship Witnessing which was okay... Not many interested, but we met heaps of brothers & sisters who were on the cruise, so that made up for it.
While in Yucatan, we visited Merida - a city of about 1 million people. It's really historic and has awesome architecture. We also visited Izamal which is a Pueblo Magico (Magical Town). All of the buildings are painted yellow and the church dominates the plaza area. We took a horse & buggy ride around the town which included some Mayan ruins right in the middle of town, which was pretty cool. Chichen Itza was a must seeing as we were so close and it didn't disappoint! Hands down, one of the most amazing places we've ever been. So that was our Yucatan & Quintana Roo adventure.
