I think the title says it all, probably no need to elaborate, but I will. Why is it that we accumulate so much stuff? At the time we think it is necessary but it really isn't, especially when you have to pack it all up and move. We have consolidated a lot our stuff, so I really shouldn't be complaining.
So now that everything is packed up - our entire belongings fit into 13 boxes and 4 suitcases... I would love to get rid of a lot more, but with all of our theocratic books, financial paperwork that needs to be kept for 4 years thanks to the Taxation Department, I think we've done pretty well for ourselves.
We have already sent 6 boxes down to Shepparton a few months ago and we are currently living out of 2 suitcases, so the picture below is inclomplete, but you get the idea. How much would you have to pack if you had to move? Food for thought - and maybe a time to cull the excess "stuff" that is cluttering up our lives.
Cleaning is next, which excites me no end! (sense the sarcasm?)

Summer Fun with the Family
Wednesday, 9 January 2013
We decided to take a well earned break over the holiday period and head down to my Sister's place in Innisfail, a small town about an hour south of Cairns. Mum & Dad traveled down from Weipa, my brother and his wife (Tim & Maureen) came down from Cairns and some good friends of ours, Bevan & Dionne and their 3 kids. It's a good thing we have great family & friends because it could have been a nightmare, but it was a good time.
We did a bit of off roading (not quite 4WDriving) and ended up at a swimming hole in the middle of the Rainforest of Wooroonooran National Park. It was Christmas Day and pouring with rain, but it was still hot so swimming was the best way to cool off. We had to remove a tree which blocked the road, thanks to my brother in-law's 'bush bashing troopy' (a Toyota Troop Carrier), it was no problem. And it wouldn't be summer fun without a good water fight. My nephew didn't take it easy on the small kids either, drenching them with buckets of water and dumping them in the little kids pool. No little kids were harmed.
After a couple of movie days, a bbq at the beach and a day spent with my niece & nephews out in service doing rural witnessing in the torrential rain - it was a great time.
We are back home now and have started packing for our move down south. We're going to miss the tropics, but are excited to start another adventure.
